In its annual WTR 1000 rankings for 2012, World Trademark Review has rated Tilleke & Gibbins as a “Gold Band” trademark practice in both Thailand and Vietnam, the top ranking that a firm can receive.
In the accompanying editorial, the firm’s Thailand team was praised for its “outstanding, confident, and talented team of experts” who provide “strategic advice on all aspects of trademark protection and enforcement.” Tilleke & Gibbins partners Darani Vachanavuttivong, Srila Thongklang, and Alan Adcock were each honored in this ranking. Darani was described as “a brilliant, hands-on lawyer who works extremely hard for her clients,” while Srila was called “a fantastic litigator who is always thoroughly prepared.” Alan was noted as a “fluent Mandarin speaker with vast experience of IP practice in Asia.”
Turning to Vietnam, the WTR 1000 stated that Tilleke & Gibbins is “considered to be a serious player with a rock-solid practice in Vietnam.” The publication also noted that the firm’s “experienced group has an excellent track record in IP enforcement, a sizable and growing prosecution practice and expertise in all types of IP commercialization.” Among the firm’s attorneys, Thomas J. Treutler was singled out in the ranking for his fluency “as a Vietnamese speaker, a rare breed
among foreign counsel in the market. He wins particular praise for his IP enforcement practice.”
In awarding this “Gold Band” ranking, researchers at World Trademark Review surveyed key thought leaders in each jurisdiction. Reputation, time in service, expertise, and comments from clients and peers were all taken into account in compiling the rankings of the firms and individuals.
