On the contentious side, the firm advises clients on complex high value cross-border commercial litigation and international arbitration as well as more straightforward domestic commercial disputes. Hill Dickinson regularly advises stakeholders (debtor and creditor) in distressed situations and related security enforcement and insolvency procedures in Hong Kong, the PRC and other Asian jurisdictions. The firm also advises on shareholder disputes (including ‘quasi partnership’ disputes), joint venture disputes, investment product misrepresentation/ misselling claims, banking disputes, internet crime (business email compromise scams/CEO fraud) and more routine debt/asset recovery matters, sale of goods disputes and employment issues. The firm regularly appears before the High Court on urgent confidential interim relief applications to trace, preserve and recover assets (including the appointment of provisional liquidators and receivers, freezing orders, Anton Piller orders and discovery orders).
